Chaplain Steve Moser

Born and raised in Minnesota, Chaplain Moser was commissioned a Second Lieutenant Chaplain Candidate into the United States Army on 20 January 1993.  He completed the Chaplain Officer Basic Course at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey in 1994.  

He trained as a Chaplain Candidate at the following locations from 1995-1998: Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas in the disciplinary barracks as a prison chaplain; Ft. Knox, Kentucky as the ROTC Basic Camp Chaplain; Evans Army Community Hospital, Ft. Carson, Colorado as a hospital chaplain and The National Training Center, Ft. Irwin, California as a TRADOC Chaplain.  CH Moser was promoted to First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves in November of 1998 and from 1999-2000 was assigned to the 114th Combat Support Hospital, 88th Regional Support Command at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota.  He was accessioned onto active duty in January of 2000 and promoted to the rank of Captain in May of that year.  His first active duty assignment was to the 20th Engineer Battalion (Combat), 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas from May 2000 until December of 2002.  He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment at Camp Eagle, South Korea from January 2003 to January 2004.  He then served as the Allied Forces South Battalion Chaplain, USANATO, for three NATO units on the Iberian Peninsula from January 2004 until December 2006.  He attended the Chaplain Captains Career Course at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina from January until June of 2007.  During this time he was selected for the rank of Major and promoted in March of 2008.  After completing his career course CH Moser joined 1-506th IN BN, 4BDE, 101st Division (Air Assault) at Ft. Campbell, KY. He deployed to OEF VIII in Afghanistan with this BN from April 2008 to March of 2009.  Following this he was accepted into the Family Life Chaplain Training Program at Fort Benning, GA.  He completed this program and began duties as the first Family Life Chaplain assigned to the Pentagon in August of 2010.

His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4), Army Achievement Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal (2), Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, NATO Medal, three overseas training ribbons and the Army Service Ribbon. He earned the Air Assault Badge in September 2007 and the Combat Action Badge while deployed in OEF VIII. 

His civilian ministry experience includes Associate Pastor of the Cambodian Assemblies of God church (1988-1991) St. Paul, Minnesota, Associate Pastor of Hazel Park Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in St. Paul, Minnesota (1991-1996), and Senior Pastor of Good News Christian and Missionary Alliance church in St. Michael, Minnesota (1997-2000). His ordination by the Christian and Missionary Alliance church took place in 1998 and he is endorsed for the military chaplaincy through this denomination. 

CH Moser’s civilian education includes a Bachelors of Science degree from North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota and a Masters Degree in Community Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Counseling from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia.  His training includes Prepare Enrich, PREP, EMDR, EFT, MBTI, and EMM. 

He has been married to his wife Rayanne for 23 years and they have one son, Max (20), and one daughter, Austin (16), two cats (Mo and The Colonel) and a Golden Retriever (Laurabush).
